Eczema/Dermatitis

Can my hand dermatitis be treated?

Hand dermatitis is a very common condition and has increased with repeated hand washing and skin irritation during the Covid Pandemic. Hand eczema generally can be due to eczema from within you or due to an external skin allergy related to your occupation or even your hobbies.

Patch testing is useful to diagnose any relevant skin allergies.

Treatments depend on the severity of your hand dermatitis and can include different ointments such as steroids, light treatment or tablets once any skin allergy has been excluded.

New treatments available for chronic hand eczema include alitretinoin or Toctino which is a vitamin A derivative.
